I am doing a walk organised by the Thames Sailing Barge Trust to raise funds which will be split equally between the barge trust and the RNLI.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution saves lives at sea, their superb lifeboats don't come cheap but perhaps I can raise enough money to buy a few lifejackets or welly boots.

The Barge Trust is busy saving a part of our maritime heritage. Over recent years the trust has spent many thousands rebuilding Centaur and Pudge but there is still a lot that needs to be done plus normal maintenance that needs to be done every year. Each winter the huge red sails are taken down and sent to the sailmakers where they are checked over and any repairs that may be needed are done. I hope to raise enough to pay the maintenance bill for one or two of the sails.
