Rowing Around Antarctica · 25 February 2008

5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.

Story

I will aim to circumnavigate Antarctica at 55 degrees south covering some 18,000 miles. We have designed, trialled and modified the boat to cope with the demands of the Southern Ocean.I will make the voyage in two stages from Tasmania to South Georgia and then over winter on South Georgia to avoid the phenomenally bad weather that is the Southern Ocean winter. I will be alone all the time I am at sea with enough food and supplies to see me through each leg of the journey. I hope to row for around 9 hours everyday, the rest of the time will be spent sleeping, eating, communicating and maintaining the boat and equipment. Please see the website or contact me for more details on the expedition. Please support me by giving what you can to Hope and Homes for Children.
