Sport Relief brings the nation together to get active and raise life changing amounts of money through the power of sport. Sport Relief is an initiative of Comic Relief registered charity 326568 (England/Wales); SC039730 (Scotland)

Story

I live my life surrounded by rugby players, rowers, marathon runners and ironmen but have always managed to resist joining in.  I'd decided that any kind of endurance sport just wasn't for me... what's wrong with dance, tennis, ski-ing, and golf?  Then, one night at a fabulous charity ball and I've succumbed...by agreeing to join in a mammouth cyle ride!  Why am I doing this?  Well, I can't resist a good idea and a cycle ride that starts in Italy and ends in Scotland to mirror the 6 Nations rugby tournament is a great way to raise lots of money for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation.

I have to admit  that I'd imagined a sunny jaunt through Tuscany and Provence, in a white cotton dress with a panier full of cherries and lots of picnic stops. The reality is I'll be cycling 438 rainy, painful kms from Twickenham to Fishguard in wet, mud-strewn lycra.  I've started my training programme and Richmond Park is fast becoming my second home.  Thanks to all those triathlete girls who are helping introduce me to the joys - sure I'll discover them very, very soon - of cycling.

It will all be worthwhile if I can meet my fundraising target so please give what you can.

Thanks so much,

Vivienne
