Story

Hello and welcome to my Just-giving page

As many of you know I have recently accepted a place on VSO’s Youth for Development (YfD) Programme.  This involves me being sent to a developing country for one year to work on an international development project.

VSO have been told that I will carry out my placement in The Gambia, West Africa: I will work for a small Non-Government Organisation called ADWAC (Agency for the Development of Women and Children).  As you can imagine I am a little daunted, but very excited about the prospect of this.  I will be helping out with the monitoring and evaluation of the projects that aim to improve rural living conditions of women and children in the area.  I will be based in the Northern Province of Kerewan.

VSO request that I raise £900 before I go.  Therefore, myself and my good friend (and fellow VSOer) Jo Kidd, are organising a sponsored walk from Arundel to Brighton on 21st and 22nd of July.  This is a gruelling and treacherous ordeal that involves a 30 mile, two day hike over rugged terrain, camping for one night wherever we find ourselves: we have had to enlist a team of experts to guide us through this perilous journey!

So, we have a good cause, a perilous walk, and me out of the country for a year.  All excellent reasons to sponsor me so please give generously.

Many thanks,

Sam
