Well we did the Flora London 2007 Marathon much to my amazement!  But I dont want to stop there.  Carers UK is such a worthwhile charity I hope to keep supporting it with my 5p collections and of course future races.

But one fun way to support Carers is to have a personal tarot reading.  Following popular demand, I have now set up a website www.tarot4charity.co.uk where you can go online and receive a positive and intuitive tarot reading by email.  Donations to charity will be made from every tarot reading undertaken.  Once you have received your reading, you can email me to clarify any questions which may have arisen. 

There are lots of very young carers at the school where I work and even more at the secondary school where my son attends and I am so acutely aware of how their struggles go unrecognised.  I heard that one 15 year old boy has had to care for his mum for the last four years which has also meant he has had to do his own washing and ironing and get his own food since he was 11!  He has had to cope with the worry of his mum whilst trying to study for his own exams! Young carers in particular often can't bring friends home, are unable to go out with their mates and dont have much fun in their lives. 

Services for carers are always the first to be cut back and yet they are minimal anyway.  Carers of all ages, race and religion are on their own.  They take on the suffering of the person/s in their care and the worry and anxiety but are just left to get on with it.

The best thing I found about running the Marathon was that I was able to increase awareness of the needs of carers.  I am determined not to forget their plight.  Carers UK are a brilliant charity that not only provides help and support for carers, but also campaigns for better rights. They help give carers a voice.

I hope you will share my concern and continue to help me raise funds for this great cause.  I have already raised £3000 and I hope to double this figure over the next year.
