RedR UK strengthens the capacity of agencies, aid workers and affected communities to prepare, respond, and recover from disaster. We enable effective, inclusive, and sustainable response to complex humanitarian crisis.

Story

Every year, millions of people are affected by natural disasters and their impact can be catastrophic. Sweeping buildings, spreading disease and destroying livelihoods -- natural disasters can devastate cities and towns overnight. They can hugely disrupt lives and, particularly, people living in poverty are even more vulnerable as they have fewer resources when trying to cope with the damages and to rebuild their homes and livelihoods.

RedR is an international disaster relief charity whose mission is to address this need by training, supporting and providing aid workers to relief programmes across the world. RedR delivers training to relief organisations and their staff enabling them to respond to the needs of communities hit by disasters, efficiently and safely.

To support this mission, Atkins has set us a fundraising challenge. Teams, made up of graduates from different departments and locations across the UK were given the challenge to raise a total of £37,000 for RedR.

Our team is named 'Wacky RedR Racers', a mix of 6 graduates
from Atkins London and Epsom office:

  •  Alex Backhouse
  • Rachel Bell
  • Tony Bowerman
  • Dominic Dela Cruz
  • Krishan Pujara
  • Ariana Ragusa

We aim to raise funds for RedR by undertaking a 10km run around the Thames allowing us to spread awareness of RedR within the heart of London. We hope to receive your support and let's both help RedR in continuing its life saving work.
