In March this year my wife lost her best friend,Rachael Drew d'Antonio.
Rachael had been a part of Clare's life for 35years and a part of mine for 15.She was an amazingly fun and charismatic individual who always made us laugh.
Rachael was diagnosed with a brain tumour age 33.She was well and continued to work at the telegraph until her epilepsy became difficult for the doctors to manage. She underwent whatever treatment was offered to give her more time with her husband, family and friends.People were very important to her and she often said,"I'm not ready to go yet ",but after 7 years she finally lost her battle against the disease. I wanted to do something to honour her memory and raise money for a charity that had supported her greatly.
In September this year ,a friend from university and I will be running from the west coast of England to the east across the Wainwright Way.The route will take us along 190 miles of challenging terrain, climbing 2000 feet. This is the equivalent of 7 marathons in 7 days, one for every year that Rachael suffered with cancer. We would be grateful for any donations to help us celebrate the life of this amazing person who lives on in our hearts.
