Walk for Africa 2009 - Friday 25 September

Since 1997 has been partners in a cultural exchange with , in . The school was originally set-up under Apartheid to provide good quality education for black students. Every year is committed to providing bursaries for CVC students to attend Edendale and also to raise funds to sponsor students from Edendale to visit Comberton.
has recently established its own orphanage on site and some of the donations received from the Walk will go to support this project.
Two years ago, formed a Sport and Language exchange partnership with Escola Secundaria Noroeste do 1, in . The school is a mixed gender government school with over 6000 students which has very limited resources. Some of the donations from the 'Walk for Africa' will enable Escola Secundaria Noroeste do 1 to purchase essential teaching and learning materials.
Following the success of last year’s Sponsored Walk, we are planning to repeat the event on the afternoon of Friday 25 September. We will be following the same four-mile circular route around the local area. As the School Council, we feel it is important that the student body takes an active role in supporting these exchanges and it is hoped that by organising such a large whole school event that we can raise all the necessary funds for each partner school. We are aiming to raise £5000.00. In order to achieve this goal we suggest that each family makes a donation of £5.00 either as cash on the day or online via our college Trust Fund, although larger donations will be gratefully received. This donation allows a student to come to school in their own clothes and to take part in the walk.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to make donations: The CVC Trust Fund receives your money immediately and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
