Our friend & colleague Andrew Luckley died in a tragic accident on 2 July 2009 while on holiday in Scotland. He was only 35 years old. As the Branch Manager of the Gateshead Galleria O2 Store in the Metro Centre and with over 10 years of service with O2, Andrew was a friend and a colleague to many of us. He is remembered for many different reasons. In particular, his incredibly unique sense of humour which brought many a smile to faces. The world is now a lesser place without Andrew.Andrew was a keen climber & walker and we hope many of you can join us on the 4 July to celebrate Andrew’s life in the ‘Walk for Andrew’. On the day, we will remember the good times we had with him and hopefully turn it into an event that we can look back on in the future as a fitting way of commemorating Andrew’s life.
The money we raise is going to the Lochaber Mountain Rescue team, who recovered Andrew’s body after his fall. The rescue team are all volunteers who leave the comfort of their own homes and the surrounds of their friends and families when the alarm comes, to potentially risk their own lives helping others. Unfortunately they could not save Andrew’s life that day, but if the money raised helps to contribute to saving someone else’s life, then it will be worth every penny.Andrew - gone far too soon, but he will never be forgotten.
