THANK YOU for stepping in...!

Update: Mark's long plod from Scotland, thru England, France and Spain is now done with well over 3,500 miles now completed. His sights were set on reaching the Sahara desert and he has made it to Fez in Morocco...

With rising concerns for his safety in Morocco, Mark has pressed 'pause' and just returned to the UK...

£4,000 would mean EIGHT PUMPS

...and 2,000 people getting clean safe water. For life.

CAN YOU HELP MARK REACH THE £4,000 MARK?

Read on...

Welcome to walking4water:
"THE ABSURDLY LONG SPONSORED WALK"
An invitation to you:

£2 for 1 mile.
 So 1 person.
  Gets clean safe water.
   For life.*
Every £500 buys an Elephant Pump = 250 people clean safe water for life.

Ever done a sponsored walk? Were blisters, thirst, and a desire to reach the finishing line part of the package?
Remember how you felt when you'd done it?
Well, I'm not "there" yet!
On 22 March 2010 I started my Absurdly Long Sponsored Walk...
...of 4,000 miles.
Should I say that bit again? Four thousand miles. (Gulp).
I started at the shores of Loch Lomond  and have walked through Scotland...
...through England...(yes the whole thing on foot)...
...through the entire length of France (it's a BIG place!)...
...and down through Spain walking through snow-topped mountains on my way to the edge of the Sahara Desert
Blisters? You bet.
Thirst. Yes.
A dodgy hip? That's a recent addition.
Two weeks of fever at Christmas? Not what I wanted.
A desire to reach the finishing line? Only with your help to be honest.
Here's my invitation to you:
Sponsor £2.
For 1 mile.
So 1 beautiful person. Gets clean safe water.
For life.*

walking4water  is an initiative created to save lives, to prevent the absurdly stupid deaths due to lack of clean water and sanitation. 5000 kids die every single day from lack of it. Five thousand. Can you picture it, let alone understand it? It does your head  in.
We get it on tap. Billions don't. Clean safe water.
£2 per mile x 4000 miles. You can do the maths. I've done about 1700 miles so far...can you catch me up?!
Just £2.
For 1 mile.
 So 1 valuable person.
 Gets clean safe water.
 For life.

£2 provides access to clean safe drinking and washing water for 1 beautiful valuable person. For Life. FOR LIFE!

*Pump Aid install these ingenious pumps, called 'Elephant Pumps' in communities where there is need. They cost £500 and provide clean safe water for 250 people. For life. {Click on the Pump Aid logo (left) for more on this}
So here's my challenge to you: Are you willing now to SWAP your cappuccino / latte / cafe drink of choice and SPONSOR A MILE. Even just 1 mile changes the life of ONE PERSON.

Of course, you could go the extra mile and sponsor extra miles too :-)
I think the fact you're here reading this (thank you by the way!) means you are willing. So, go ahead, help me reach the hot sandy finishing line in the Sahara desert.
I'll do the walking, and you can make the difference.
£2.
1 mile.
1 person.
Clean safe water.
For life.
Walk on...
