Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Your contribution, large or small, will be greatly appreciated, especially as I walk/crawl/get carried the 50km distance of the Microloan Foundation's Grand Walk on Sunday 23 September 2007!

For more information on the Microloan Foundation and the Grand Walk click here.

In partnership with the Microloan Foundation, my family-run charity, Khwisero Water Development Project (KWDP), seeks to raise money to continue its development aims in one of the poorest rural areas of western Kenya, a place I call 'home'. For more information about KWDP visit our website www.kwdp.co.uk.

Your contribution will help fund KWDP's activities in the following areas:

1. A feasibility study to determine the potential for building a Microfinance operation in our area of western Kenya through our partnership with the Microloan Foundation. This study is being scoped out by Richard Sheffle, an old university friend of mine who, after 6 years as a Financial Analyst in Sydney's capital markets, has opted to take a sabbatical and spend a few months in Africa contributing to KWDP's charitable objectives.

2. Continued efforts by KWDP to protect local water springs in Khwisero, our home area in rural western Kenya. To find out more about our efforts with regards to water sanitation visit our website - www.kwdp.co.uk

3. Further development of KWDP's demonstration farm which aims to provide a tangible example to the local population of the potential for various income generating activities. This includes developing a bee-keeping project, a fish-farm and funding the creation of a dairy. Such projects help KWDP showcase the economic potential for small-scale income generating activities whilst also, once up and running and commercially viable, these activities will help fund further charitable efforts that we intend to nurture.

Donating through this justgiving site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: MicroLoan Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Any individual donations made by my circle of family, friends and colleagues will be channeled by the Microloan Foundation directly to KWDP's UK Cooperative Bank account.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
