Tour Du Mont Blanc · 10 June 2009

Its aims are to save life and alleviate distress, primarily in Upland and Mountain areas although teams are called upon by the Police to search lowland areas for missing people.

Story

Three generations of Moran men are walking the Tour du Mont Blanc in August - a long distance footpath of c 170km and nearly 10,000m of elevation gain which goes around Mont Blanc passing through three countries.

It's not that, as we approach the trip, we are preoccupied with the thought of getting lost in the hills - but we have decided to use this opportunity to raise money for the Mountain Rescue teams who volunteer in the Peak District (where Mick lives and Liam grew up)

These volunteer teams perform life saving rescues in upland areas like the Peak District and rely solely on donations for all their funding.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us!
