Story
Thanks for visiting the Warwick Schools Channel swimmers fundraising page.
Update from France July 1st at 1803hours: Team 1 made it in 11 hours 38 minutes. A fantastic effort by the team. It has been really cold in the sea and water temperatures have remained low increasing the effect on the swimmers as they swim for longer! A driving easterly wind for hour after hour created really difficult swimming conditions and added seasickness to the problems faced in this iconic challenge. Then an unexpectedly fast tide off France swept them off the planned course and added at least 2 extra hours of difficult swimming to succeed - they really deserve your support. Everyone at Warwick and King's High Schoools are very proud of their efforts.
Update from France July 4th at 2022hours: Team 2 made it in 12 hours 38 minutes. An incredible effort by the 'Specials' seen in the image above. Sub 12 C water was extremely severe at times creating cramp and exhaustion to add to the chop and sway that induces sea sickness. 5 hours swimming through thick fog added to the challenge as did a pilot boat down to one engine and losing fuel which could have scuppered our attempt. They really were brave and courageous & deserve all your support. Everyone at Warwick and King's High Schoools are very proud of their efforts.
From 'coach' and everyone at the Warwick Foundation Schools WELL DONE GUYS!!!!
