Hi, thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
What am I doing??? Swimming the length of Wast Water in the lake district, a 5km open water swim in the UK's deepest (and therefore coldest) lake! Basically its a marathon swim in very cold water (hopefully 16 degrees) and I'm going to try and do it without using my swimming fins (or flippers to any non divers). I'm not the best swimmer going but hope to achieve this without drowning and within 2 and half hours!
Yes I'm mad, but you probably already knew that!
Why an I doing this??? Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to spend two weeks with WaterAid in India, looking at communities where WaterAid work and how much of a difference WaterAid can make to their lives. I also spent time in communities where WaterAid are not yet working and saw first hand how difficult life can be. The experience has had a profound impact on me and I hope that by doing this swim I can raise some money so that WaterAid can help more people. With £15 WaterAid can provide a person with clean water and basic sanitation combined with hygiene education for life, this can really mean the difference between living and having a life.
