Story
Children who attend the Olonayani Maasai Nursery School in Eluway Tanzania are
in need of your help. COCO ran an appeal in our latest newsletter to raise
£2,000 to fund the installation of a 60,000 litre underground water tank which
collects enough rainwater to meet the nursery school's needs for the whole year.
We have had some contributions but no where near enough.
Currently women
and children from the school walk many miles to a lake to collect water for the
community to use. Unfortunately, the water that they walk so many miles to
collect is dirty and puts the children at risk of diseases such as cholera and
dysentery. If an underground water tank is installed it will mean that the
children will have clean water for their porridge and so that they can wash
their hands after using the toilet. It will also been that instead of spending
their time walking to collect water, the children can spend more time in school
improving their education.
COCO have already refurbished the nursery
school that the children attend, with your help they can spend more time there
and less time walking to and from the lake. COCO is asking you to give them a
helping hand and offer these women and children the tools they need for a
brighter future.
Please consider donating what you can, every little will
help. It might only be the price of a take away to you and I, but to the
community in Eluway it represents improved health and more time at school and at
home for an all round better quality of life.
