Asalamualaikum (Peace be with you),
1.1 billion people in the world do not have access to safe water - around 1/6th of the world's population
Around 6,000 children die every day from diseases associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene
In the past 10 years diarrhoea has killed more children than all the people lost to armed conflict since World War II.
The average distance that women in Africa and Asia walk to collect water is 6 km. The weight of water that women in Africa and Asia carry on their heads can be anything up to 20kg - the equivalent of your airport luggage allowance.

"Spend (in charity) out of the sustenance that We have bestowed on you before that time when death will come to someone, and he shall say: "O my Lord! If only you would grant me reprieve for a little while, then I would give in charity, and be among the righteous." - The Holy Quran, 63:10
