Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

This summer, July 2010, 6 students from Wellington College; Jake Presley, Freddie Fitz-Gibbon, Hugo Gateley, Fred Evans, Louis Timpany and Andy Wilson will be cycling from London to Paris over a course of four days. The reason we are doing this is to raise money for a charity called CRY. CRY was founded in 1995 to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD); Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS, SADS). A fact made known by CRY was that “every week 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions. We are aiming to raise at least £1000 each in personal fund raising but will also be running fund raising events within our school. This is a personal charity to Jake as his Grandfather was the first ever president for CRY.
