Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
As a family, we have been through a difficult year, but with the love and support of our family and friends Katie, Zoe and I have managed to come through it together!
We miss Richard and his common sense, his daftness and his thorough enjoyment of life, and each of us remember him in our hearts, both in our own way and together. For me, I have realised that to be content with life and to do things to help both ourselves and others grow in confidence and love is more important than things. So I am now retraining to help children with dyslexia, and I have decided to take on this trek as my personal challenge as it means I will have to stretch myself in so many ways!
Why Compton Hospice for the sponsorship? It is a well-loved organisation in Wolvo, which helps people who are moving towards the end of their earthly lives die with dignity, and it also offers respite care to help their families in those difficult months. Richard's death was sudden and unexpected, but it made me realise the importance of the quality of care at a critical time, when illness can mean pain and fear for the family.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Compton Hospice Ltd will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
If everybody who reads this donates I will reach my target of £1500. It's a modest target and I'd be pleased to raise it for such a worthy cause. Of course, I'll be meeting all my own travel expenses, including blister plasters, knee replacement surgery, sherpa support (hopefully with donkeys) and hopefully safe return with loads of photos!!!
I would like to say a big thank you to all my friends and family who have been so generous and joined in with these fundraising events - I hope that you have all enjoyed the coffee mornings, lunches, bucket shaking and had fun raising money for the Hospice.
Please donate generously.
Many thanks for your support.
Wendy, Katie and Zoe
