Dear friends and family and friends of friends, my lovely Big Sis, Ingrid, has bone cancer and at the moment is very bravely undergoing a lot of treatment to try to keep it under control. She is helped in that by Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham and their wonderful staff. Please would you help them to continue care for people like sis by sponsoring me for the 10 mile Moonlight Walk I'm doing around Wrexham next Saturday 27th June?
The hospice relies heavily on donations, receiving very little government funding - they need £2.2million in order to meet this years needs. Not expecting you to sponsor me for that much though - every pound helps!! I had £260+ pledged already to today Monday 22nd and now - offline - as I head to bed - I'm up to £313 which, added to the £45 pedged today online and another £40 promised tonight to be pledged online asap [come on Manchester - you know who you are!] is a whopping £398 - WOOHOO!
[see below for daily additions + total!]
I am sure, between us, that we can STILL send that amount soaring. I will keep on asking everyone I can until I do the walk - please can you ask anyone you think might help too - if everyone I've asked, asks just one other person and that person pledges a £1 - this total could go up and up!
16,000+ women took part in the walk last year and raised over £16,000. Only one thing will stop me walking ..... if we get a phone call to say BabyBump [Tom and Vicky's baby - due July6th] is on his way! [Then I shall do the abseil down the fireman's tower in Wrexham in September instead for my sponsorship. [ gulp!]
THANK YOU all - wish me luck on Saturday - 10 miles is a long way for me but I'm determined to do it! [I think I'll be walking on air with all the support I've had from everyone today and all the days before - you're just BRILLIANT and your generosity bowls me over - THANK YOU.]

SUNDAY MORNING - exhausted but VERY PROUD of ourselves - WE'VE DONE IT! 10 miles - and a very respectable 3hours 5mins! [The lead walkers came in at 2 and a half hours.] Rosie and I could hardly move when we arrived back at 'Ty'n y Pwll' - and I am VERY tired and stiff this morning after just 5 hours sleep - but I'm soooooooooo glad we did it. The atmosphere was WONDERFUL, everyone was very supportive and the amazing and hugely uplifting news was that an estimated 2,000 women walked this year [sorry, I managed to x last year's number by 10 - there were 1,600 in 2008 NOT 16,000! It's been a while since I taught top set maths!]
If YOU have helped Rosie and I raise a staggering £1134, between us - THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
If you know anyone else - friends, family, neighbours, workmates - who you could ask to KEEP the total rising, PLEASE DO... it's not too late to donate! Phenomenal though our total is so far ..... it costs £7000 a DAY to keep the hospice running . . . so it's going to take a lot more generous people to raise the funds it needs.

TUESDAY morning - another £75 in cheques! THANK YOU aunty and uncles - this is just wonderful. All your letters and cards have been fabulous everyone - very uplifting for sis I hope - what love and support there is out there for her. That's £1084 in now + £200 that Rosie's raised - so - with Gift Aid too - we have
a wonderful , wonderful £1354!
Thank you ........ and keep nudging those friends, family workmates etc ...REMEMBER...
it's not too late to donate!
..... A week later ...... and monies are still dribbling in - I'm just over £1200 now + Rosie's £200 - isn't that just great - and so far higher than the £200 I first aimed for! I keep saying it but I really mean it - THANK YOU all.
WEDNESDAY 12th August - the hospice have received the final cheque for all the cash / cheques you've all sent me and today I went for a look round with the lovely Wendy Gibson - fundraising manager extraordinaire - who interviewed me for the Midnight Walk dvd on the night of the walk. Sis was having her weekly session in the hydrotherapy pool - YES - she's got another 6 sessions there - so £240 of 'our' money is going to pay for those if you like! The hospice is much more amazing than I even imagined - both from the point of view of all its caring staff and volunteers and for the breadth of its services. I came home buzzing with thoughts about how to help NEXT! Will DEFINITELY be doing the walk again next year ....... but there should be lots to do to raise money before then .... IF YOU have any ideas - please do email me - would love to hear them.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALL again!
