Wendy always put everything into what she was doing - at work or play. After being diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2004, and having had radical surgery, she returned to a fully active life. This included fell walking, orienteering, diving, long dog walks, visiting National Trust properties and horse riding. She continued to work in the IT department at Crest Nicholson, achieving 20 years service last year.
Despite the return of cancer a year ago, and ongoing chemotherapy treatment, Wendy was determined to carry on with her activities. We returned to the Lake District several times, and even climbed Scafell Pike together in October. Wendy took every opportunity to be with those that she loved. The close family shared our beautiful wedding day with us on 18 March this year.
Wendy died at home on 2 April. She received superb medical care whilst she was ill, and it seems almost unfair to nominate only one organisation to receive donations in her memory. We have chosen the Hospice as it is a local charity and perhaps does not benefit from such a high public profile as the larger ones.
Please make a donation of any size, and please also use the opportunity to leave a thought or memory of Wendy. This is just as important as the donation. There is space for 150 characters in the comments field.
Thank you.
