The Head, the Actress, the Midwife & the Yogi on a Sahara Trek! Even though this might sound like the beginning of a dubious joke it is in fact the start of an adventure in aid of underprivileged and special needs children. Anne (headmistress of the BISS), Pat (actress/teacher), Christel (yoga instructor/teacher) and myself (birth educator/teacher) have committed to a 100 km charity walk through the Sahara in March 2009. It is organised by Classic FM radio and raises money for Music Makers, who fund and organise music therapy, music education and after-school clubs in socially deprived areas, rehabilitation schemes, and performances in adult care homes across the UK. Before this sporty 220-year old quartet can participate we have to prove that we are able-bodied, prepared to turn into desert rats and…….as if that’s not enough at our graceful age, we need to raise £2250 EACH. This is not to pay for the trip - we've already done that ourselves - this money will all go straight to the charity so....
This is where the joke stops; ….we seriously need your help!
