Brain Tumour UK has merged with The Brain Tumour Charity to become the UK's largest dedicated brain tumour charity. We fund research and offer support and information to those affected whilst raising awareness and influencing policy.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are team 'We're going to Miami!' (a.k.a. Kate, Kate, Alan, Lyd, Daz, Paul & Louise) & we're going to run a 26 mile marathon relay as part of the RelayGB World Record Attempt.

Brain Tumour UK was selected as the Charity of the Year at my work place, Moore Stephens, before which I hadn't really thought about this kind of illness that affects so many lives. Because in absolute terms brain tumours are not the biggest killer, government funding for research in this area is far less than that received for research into other illnesses.

20 years ago, Leukaemia was the biggest cancer killer of children but thanks to all the funding raised for successful research, this is no longer the case - it is now brain tumours. A team of scientists at Wolverhampton University is working very hard on getting to know more about an illness which is unfortunately incurable at the moment.

So, a team of us have come together to complete one 26 mile leg of the RelayGB world record attempt running from Cleethorpes to Mablethorpe on Saturday 19th May 2012 in order to support this cause.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated & will spur us on in our section of the relay, especially since for some of us running has now become quite an alien concept!

Thank you :-)
