Just a quick update to let you know that we completed the ride on 22nd June. 11 days in total, one rest day and 864 miles covered. Sore legs, swollen ankles etc are now starting to recover...slowly.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

2 years ago, Dave and I cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats - a total of 1000 miles in 14 days.

Time for another fundraising trip, we thought. What to do? Where to go?

After throwing around some ideas, we thought "We've done South to North, why not do West to East, and back"?

So, the plan is to cycle from my house in Hertfordshire to St Davids in West Wales. On arrival in St Davids, turn around and head towards Lowestoft, via a different route. Then back to Hertfordshire.

We estimate this will be around 850 - 900 miles and will be doing this in 12 days. We will be carrying our own kit and camping all the way there and back (ok, we wimped out a few times last time and stayed in B&B's sometimes but this was only to avoid being swept away in the monsoons that seemed to follow us).

So, if you would like to sponsor us, we would be extremely grateful.

  • Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases.
  • Cystic Fibrosis affects over 8,500 people in the UK.
  • Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population.
  • If two carriers have a child, the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis.
  • Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
  • Each week, five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis.
  • Each week, three young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.
  • Around half of the CF population can expect to live over 38 years, although improvements in treatments mean a baby born today could expect to live even longer.
