Story
For the third year in a row, Mark Wallace and Christian May are helping out in Macmillan's Parliamentary Tug of War, and for the second year running we're taking part in a match against the motley crew from Total Politics magazine. Defeat for us is not an option this year, and we return with a crack squad of journalists, hacks and spinners - ready and waiting to pull Total Politics off their high horse and into the mud. All in the name of charity, of course. Please help us reach our fundraising target and wish us the best of luck for June 11th.
The team this year includes Mark Wallace of ConservativeHome, Christian May and Alistair Thompson of Media Intelligence Partners, Nick Faith of Policy Exchange, Craig Woodhouse of The Sun, Rob Oxley of The Taxpayers' Alliance, Giles Dilnot of the BBC, Joe Watts of the Evening Standard, Tom McTague of the Daily Mirror and Samuel Coates of general Westminster fame.
This truly unique event is now in its 26th year, with guests playing witness to Lords and MPs battling it out over a Tug of War rope to claim the House of Parliament Tug Champions title for the year.
Deputy Political Editor for the BBC James Lansdale is confirmed to host this must see event. He'll be overseeing each of the 8 tug matches including the Services, Womens, Sponsors, Corporate Partners, Media, and culminating with the House of Lords vs House of Commons match.
The thrilling matches create an electric atmosphere as guests enjoy the garden party with champagne and canapés, followed by a delicious standing supper.
All of which takes place within the stunning Westminster Abbey College Gardens, under the watchful eye of Big Ben.
