Story
The Weston Ice Cream Walk…..In aid of the West of England MS Therapy Centre
. .
Well we did it! After 9 hours of essentially non stop walking (We had one 20 min break for lunch) we arrived at the pier @ 5pm, where we were met by the charity and a press photographer. We’re all very sore today, with several blisters, but a small amount of discomfort means that we’ve raised some much valued funds for the MS Centre.
.
Can I take this opportunity to thank all of you who sponsored us, as well as those who may still want to sponsor us!
Ieuan, Dave, Barrie, Nick, Roger & Wayne!
Welcome to our fundraising page, We are five employees of Hewlett Packard + one non HP person, that are planning to raise hopefully £1000 by walking from the HP Bristol office (Filton) on Thursday the 9th of April to purchase an Ice Cream at the Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare.
.
Total distance is over 28 miles (over 44 km), so it’ll be a long hard slog, and we’re asking for your support by sponsoring us on behalf of the West of EnglandMS Therapy Centre. All monies donated will go straight to the MS Centre, as any expenses incurred are being picked up directly by us.
.
The walkers are:
- Ieuan Day
- Barrie Evans
- Nick Hides
- Roger Parish
- Dave Parsons
- Wayne Day
Some of us are keen runners, while for others (Me in particular), this is going to be a very Big challenge!

"The Centre was set up in 1985 to start offering oxygen therapy and support to local people with Multiple Sclerosis. Today the Centre offers a wide range of therapies for people with MS including, Physiotherapy, Oxygen Therapy, Counselling, Acupuncture, Reflexology and Aromatherapy. The Centre currently supports 300 people from the Greater Bristol Area on a long-term basis. The Centre itself helps not only people with MS, but also their carers and supporters. The Centre also offers practical advice from nutrition to claiming benefits.
.
The West of England MS Therapy Centre offers these therapies for donation rates and does not turn people away based on their ability to pay. In total the Centre currently needs to raise in excess of £200,000 per year to keep running, and it does not receive any statutory funding, so all the money raised for the centre comes from voluntary donations.
.
Thanks for your support!
