Story
OK … so you’ve passed the first test and visited Team Wetherby's sponsorship page.
Firstly, thanks for taking the time to look at what we’re doing and why. You’ll already be aware that you’re here because a member of our team has either begged, bullied or played a very big sympathy card to get you to part with your hard earned cash to support a very worthwhile charity … and here’s why!
For 2013, we are raising money for MedEquip4Kids, a children’s charity which helps to provide paediatric medical equipment and facilities for hospital and community health care teams.
MedEquip4Kids are a self-funding charity and rely entirely on donations from the public. They work with medical staff, community nurses and other registered charities to provide equipment and improved facilities that are not readily available within the NHS' limited budgets.
Larger hospitals are able to employ fundraisers to secure extra cash the NHS can’t provide, yet smaller hospitals and community teams don’t have this luxury and it’s common to find nurses and paramedics fundraising in their own spare time to meet the deficit.
MedEquip4Kids strongly believe that these staff should be focusing on what they do best … and that’s caring for children … so the charity's aim is to fundraise on their behalf.
All monies raised are spent directly on the items they request and no money is passed on to any third party.
So, what are we going to do to help you part with your hard earned cash?
TREK50! http://bit.ly/XBCviO
Trek50 challenges teams of four participants to trek a monster 50 miles in under 24 hours around the Pennines on the Lancashire and Yorkshire border (from 22–23 June 2013). Blisters aside, we're sure that the saving grace will be the opportunity to take on some breath-taking trails including The Pennine Way and Pennine Bridleway, at height gain equivalents of climbing Snowdon and Ben Nevis (as achieved last year J). However, this will be no mean feat and will without doubt test our team to the limit both physically and mentally.
The team this year welcomes old faces Paul Kirby, Anthony James, Vicky Yates and John Armstrong and the aim is to raise at least £2500 for this fantastic cause.
Last year Team Wetherby was truly amazed by your support and generosity when we completed the 3 Peaks Challenge and we would humbly ask for your participation again.
From all of us, thanks in advance and please dig deep!
TEAM WETHERBY
