Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and donate online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Sue Ryder Care, specifically the Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please donate now!

The idea is to walk for around 4 and a half weeks covering over 500 miles from the tippy top of Scotland (John o Groats) all the way back home (Keighley near Bradford). We might of done the whole hog to Land's End but the summer holidays just aren't long enough.

We are doing this mainly for Manorlands who provide top class care for not just their patients but for the people around them aswell. David has experienced first hand this brilliant service while his father was in Manorlands care over a period of 3 months with brain cancer, that at the time was thought terminal. His father has now since recovered a great deal and was given the "all clear" in spring last year.

if there are any businesses who would like to sponsor us for equipment etc. please do not hesitate to contact us by email p3ac0ck@googlemail.com

Many thanks for your support.

Sue Ryder Care is dedicated to helping the people it cares for to get the best from life. We care for people all around the UK through our hospices, care centres and homecare services.
Serving the population of Bradford, Airedale and Craven, Sue Ryder Care - Manorlands Hospice at Oxenhope provides specialist palliative care for patients with cancer and other life limiting illnesses such as motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis.
As well as enabling people to spend their final days free of pain, our hospice care services reach out into the community through teams of specially trained nurses, carers, social workers and doctors who care for people in their own homes.
In addition to specialist medical care, we offer a wide range of therapies and activities including complementary therapies.
We have a 16 bed in-patient Unit, a Day Therapy Unit, a Community Specialist Palliative Care Team and bereavement and counselling services. We also have a satellite Day Therapy Unit Service at Skipton Hospital one day a week.
We are reliant on voluntary contributions for the majority of our running costs which will be over £2million in 2008.

Sue Ryder is here to make sure everyone approaching the end of their life or living with grief can get the support they need. There is no one size fits all when it comes to how we cope and the help we need, but with our support, no one has to face dying or grief alone. We are there when it matters.
