Tuk Tuk Racing · 5 September 2009

The Rainbow Centre works to address the serious problem of child poverty in Sri Lanka. It provides, education, welfare, medical assistance and loving support to children who live on the street, in slum housing and in conditions that threaten their survival.

Story

Team What the Tuk! are two thrill-seeking fun-loving adventurous fellows from Brighton, England; David Coats and Jonny Stewart. Having both worked together inventing Google, they decided to give up the rat-race to do a bit of travelling, and thought that racing tuk-tuks around Sri-Lanka would be a fun interlude.

There is a serious side to our larking about in brightly painted lawn-movers - we are raising money for a local children's centre: The Rainbow Centre, which helps children living in poverty in one of the world's poorest countries. Until last month, the country was at war for nearly 40 years which has blighted the lives of so many.

Please help us to raise as much as we can and Jonny and I will give you access to our special What the Tuk blog, video and photo library to follow our ride.

You can follow us as we prepare for the race and during the ride itself on twitter at http://twitter.com/whatthetuk

Thanks so much for your support

David and Jonny

UPDATE 24th August: Thanks so much to everyone who has donated so far. Both Jon and I have been touched by your generosity. We've smashed our expectation of £500 and have extended the amount we are trying to raise to £750, however we are looking to raise as much as we can for this worthy cause so please keep your donations coming in.

In the words of Tesco - every little helps - and the Rainbow centre would appreciate all the help you can give, so please dig deep and we'll keep you up to date with progress!
