BUPA Great North Run 2010 · 19 September 2010 ·

Sport offers tremendous physical, psychological and social benefits for those taking part. WheelPower provides and promotes opportunities for thousands of adults and children with physical disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport.

Story

Hello,

On September 19th my Mum and I will be running in the Great North Run in the hope of raising funds for a charity called WheelPower.

WheelPower is the national charity for wheelchair sport and helps those with disabilities to achieve their sporting ambitions.

Each year, besides the many individuals born with disabilities, thousands of men, women and children become disabled due to an accident or illness. WheelPower aim to raise £6-million, enough money to provide over two thousand sports wheelchairs to disabled children and young adults by the time the Paralympics return ‘home’ in August 2012.
