A massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and made my marathon effort so worthwhile. I ran the race in 3:53:49 - a great time for me! As well as the amount listed above MDSG has also been able to claim over £500 in GIft Aid taking the total to just over £3000. This is an amazing amount and has only been made possible by your support. Thank you so much Liz x x Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am running theLondon Marathon for the Myotonic Dystrophy Support Group. In Nov 2007 our close friend Andy was diagnosed with this cruel, muscle wasting disease. It affects 1 in 8000 and has a 50/50 chance of being passed on to children. Both Col and Iain, Andy's sons are having blood tests around the time of the marathon. The support group offers advice and support to affected families and has a very informative website www.mdsguk.org. Andy really challenges me. I have never heard him complain and he continues to have his very dry sense of humour despite all he is facing. I can only offer him friendship and running the marathon is part of that. Andy also loves sport and watches it avidly so a race fund raiser seemed appropriate. Please support me in my attempt to do something for Andy, Sheila, Colin and Iain.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Myotonic Dystrophy Support Group will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. Liz
