Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

THE CHALLENGE

On the 16th of September, I will be setting off on a 130 mile walk from Wigan To Gateshead. The goal is to complete the walk within 48 hours, then to take part in the GREAT NORTH RUN half marathon.

THE REASON

In Memory of a dear nephew, Ethan Firman. He was born on the 11th of October 2006 and sadly passed on the 13th of April 2008, 4 months before the birth of his little sister Emily. He was 18 months old.
Menigitis is a very frightening disease because it can strike so quickly, causing someone to become seriously ill within hours and if not treated successfully can cause death and serious disability.
It does not discriminate and can affect anyone of any age or ethnic origin.
Ethan died within a few hours of diagnosis. So cruel and swift the disease can be. The whole family was left devastated.

THE GOAL

Meningitis UK's 'Search 4 a Vaccine Campaign' aims to raise £7 million to help fund cutting-edge research to develop a vaccine against meningitis B, which causes almost 90% of cases in the UK and for which there is currently no vaccine.
Any donation you can make, no matter how small will go towards reaching Meningitis UK`s Target.
Please accept my thanks in advance for any donation you wish to make.

Regards
Brian
