Story

The staff here on Rainbow Ward, Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, are walking as a team from Wigan Pier to Southport Pier. Walking over 20 miles, taking around 7 hours.

This year we are fund raising to set up a much needed 'Teen Zone' within our ward. This room will be specifically built with our teenage patients in mind, giving them a space to retreat and relax away from the ward's younger patients.

We need to fund things for in the 'Teen Zone' such as couches, bean bags, a TV, jukebox, games consoles, snack fridge and other therapeutic equipment to help the teens cope better with stressful situations.

Any donations, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.

WWL Trust are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the NHS with a campaign called £70-4-70yrs. The trust is hoping that all members of staff are able to raise £70 by the end of the year to celebrate the NHS and all the wonderful work it does. So as a team, we are doing this walk as a celebration of the fabulous NHS at 70yrs.

The Mission of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Hospital Charity - Three Wishes, is to further improve the quality of patient care through the improvement of services, purchasing of medical equipment and enhancing the patient environment and experience. Within the 'Three Wishes Charity', there are the 'Big Eight Funds' - Patient Wish / Children and Babies / Women's / Heart and Lungs / Cancer Care / Fertility / Minds and Memories / Wrightington. This allows our amazing supporters to donate or fundraise to the area of their choice.
