My story

UPDATE!!!

I'm pleased to say that I completed the marathon in a personal best time of 3hrs 59mins 17 seconds which meant I broke my “holy grail” time of 4 hrs! I know a few of you out there promised a few extra donations to reward this record breaking time, so I'll hold you to that!

The marathon was a superb event run in dramatic scenery and the weather was perfect for running a marathon with blue skies and no wind. The marathon is the 3rd most popular in the UK, with over 3,500 people taking part and was started by a traditional Pipe seeing everyone off in style along the valley. The course was very hilly in parts as you might imagine, with a long climb toward the end and the finish in Inverness athletics stadium. There was so much support throughout, and I hope that will continue now I've finished the marathon.

For those who haven't already read about Adoption Support or want to know more about them before they choose to make a donation, I've added some information below. You can also visit their webiste (link below).

Adoption Support is a small charity with a big project, covering the whole of the West Midlands and beyond. They provide invaluable post adoption services to anyone whose life has been affected by the adoption process. They help adoptees and birth families locate each other and reunite, requiring the most experienced and delicate professional involvement. Residential activity holidays for adopted children & young people take place throughout the year. These help build confidence and allow the children to share their experiences and feelings with each other in a safe environment. Specialised services are also available to help birth parents and relatives where there is a plan for their child to be adopted. Professional counselling enables those involved develop greater awareness of how problems affect their lives and implement strategies to cope with these difficulties both in the short and long term. Anyone who needs to talk about how adoption affects them can call Adoption Support's confidential helpline. For more information about the charity and their work, please visit the Adoption Support website.

My experience of Adoption Support proves to me that their work is unique and extremely valuable to those who need it. Shrinking funding streams mean that they are unlikely to be in a position to expand and develop thier services without your help, so once again I ask you to please give as generously as you can.

Thanks again to everyone for your support. I know that all at Adoption Support are extremely greatful for the pledges already received and hopefully yet to come.

Will Williams.
