Hi Guys,
We're running the Bristol Half!!!
Thanks for visiting our page. Please donate any amount you like to the Kenya Acorn Project, which is a charity supporting a village called Ndhiwa in Western Kenya. The money is for the Bristol branch (BKAP) involved with HIV/AIDS education within the village. We went to the village two years ago to train up 15 African volunteers to then provide sexual education to the children in the village year round. The money goes towards supporting the volunteers and to provide the materials necessary for them to teach.
A survey in 2007 showed that 7.8% of Kenya's population is affected by HIV, yet this is not spread evenly around the country and in Ndhiwa it is thought that maybe as many as 1 in 3 are affected, many of whom are children.
We pass on an informal teaching method for the volunteers to educate the children with. They are educated with the ABC guide to avoid catching HIV: A stands for Abstinence, if not B stands for Be faithful to one partner C stands for always wear a Condom
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Kenya Acorn gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
