Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Every year we support thousands of children and families right across the country. We provide rehabilitation to help children make the best recovery possible after a serious accident or illness, both at our national specialist centre in Tadworth and in the community.

Story

Well I did it!  Hard slog all the way.  3.40, which I am pleased with. Got slower and slower and slower.  Overtook Gordon Ramsay and Dangermouse, but was left trailing in the wake of Darth Vader, sporting helmet and light saber.  And I hear that Father Christmas was many miles ahead of me.

Thank you very much to everyone who has sponsored me and The Children's Trust.  It made it all worthwhile, I think. It was fantastic to be spurred on by family and friends, and in particular by Ollie and his family with about a mile to go.

In the summer of 2006, my godson Ollie Jack choked on a handful of grapes and suffered severe brain damage. Following this terrible accident he spent six months at The Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey undergoing intensive rehabilitation.

The Children's Trust provides care, education and therapy to children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs. Their services are available to children from across the UK and range from special education for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities to short breaks, transitional, palliative and long term care. They also run the UK's largest rehabilitation centre for children who have an acquired brain injury like Ollie’s.

Both Ali and I are raising money for this special charity. I am going to run The London Marathon on 26 April 2009 and Ali (along with 40 friends and family on her 40th birthday) is going to run the Dorking 10, a 10 mile road race through the lanes between Dorking and Reigate in Surrey. Please support me by donating generously and giving the children at The Children’s Trust the best possible care and quality of life they can enjoy. By clicking on the following link, you will see ‘Ollie’s story’ described by his mum Vicky (who is part of our team). http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/page.asp?section=00010001001100180024§ionTitle=We+need+1000%21+Ollies+Story

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor: The Children’s Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, your donation will be further increased through Gift Aid.
