We provide free specialised surgical care to children with treatable disabilities

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Last year my wife and I had our second baby; he is a healthy and happy boy but was born with club feet. The cause of clubfoot is unknown, but it results in a foot with ankles twisted inwards and downwards so that only the heel, toes or outer edge of the foot touch the ground. If untreated clubfoot makes walking difficult or impossible.

We are lucky enough to live in a country that gives us access to the appropriate treatment and as a result we are hopeful that our son will grow up without his feet causing him any serious problems. However, if we lived in the developing world, this may have been a very different story.

The treatment of clubfoot is relatively simple and inexpensive to administer using the Ponseti Method, but most children born in the developing world with clubfoot receive no treatment and as a result are permanently handicapped.

Inspired by our experiences with our son, I have decided to raise money for a charity called CURE International who build and run hospitals in the developing world with a specific focus on treating clubfoot. I intend to raise money through sponsorship by riding the Marmotte and Vaujany sportifs and the big challenge of the Trans Austria.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cure International (Uk) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
