Kitchen renovation for the local Ban Xo Primary School
The school and community have addressed their desperate need of improved kitchen facilities. The current kitchen is a bamboo structure with rotting walls and unsafe and leaking roof. Cooking is done on a fire on the floor and the kitchen doubles as a storage room for fire wood.
It is important for the students and the cooks health and safety that the kitchen gets renovated and new facilities get installed such as a sink and a gas stove.
The primary school has applied for government funding but they haven't received any which is common for this area.
Building a wall surrounding the Ban Xo Pre-School
The school has addressed the need of a wall surrounding their grounds to protect the young children from buffalo and other life stock that now keep entering the school property. At the moment there is a bamboo fence in place but the wood keeps rotting and the fence is not strong enough to keep the animals out. Having the animals intruding the school property is hazardous for two main reasons. First of all, the children risk getting trampled. Other than that there are health risks as the animals defecate on the premises including the playground.
Like the Primary School the Pre-School has applied for government funding but since they have already received a fund to build their school kitchen they wont be entitled to any more funds.
