This summer, I have been given the amazing opportunity to go to Malawi with a group of students and staff from my school, to take part in charitable work. I aim to donate as much as possible, to a number of core educational and health organisations which provide for the most vulnerable, an example of which I detail below. I have never been to a country, or part of the world, such as this; thus, it will be an incredible experience that I hope will really open my eyes to the world we really live in. I am conscious that I am incredibly privileged and this gives me a chance to give back and make a difference, whilst learning about an extremely understated, yet vibrant and welcoming culture.

For Example; The Malama Feeding Centre:          

The Malama Feeding Centre is a charitable organisation, relying mainly on funding from overseas, being run by just a small group of people. It is situated near to the All Saints Church on Satemwa Tea Estates, Thyolo. Each day, Monday to Friday, it feeds many underprivileged individuals with a large mug of nutritious, vitamin enriched porridge along with a cup of hot, Satemwa tea. Overall it feeds about 200 people in need, including the elderly, HIV/AIDS victims and also their dependent orphans. On top of this, The Malama centre also feeds sixty-two children who attend the Centre’s pre-primary school. This charity does such amazing work and it is so vital that it is enabled to continue do so. We hope that the funds we raise will be a sufficiently powerful tool for the feeding centre to put to use, the more funds the better!
