How're you all doing?
For those who know me, I'll be leaving London at the end of July to move to Hong Kong for a while.
I have always wanted to run around London for a good cause. But time and time again, I've missed out on the ballot at the London Marathon. So I thought the British 10k run on 3rd July (Sunday) is a good opportunity to fulfill my dream before I go.
But most important of all, I will be running in aid of a British HIV & AIDS charity, Terrence Higgins Trust and was hoping if you would be so nice as to support me in my efforts!
You might be surprised to learn that in the UK, HIV is one of the least popular causes to support. Public perception is at an all time low and yet last year saw the highest number of new diagnoses since the epidemic began. According to the UN Population Fund, there are more young women being infected by HIV than young men around the world. Nearly five million people contracted HIV last year and 3.1 million died of full-blown AIDS, according to the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
To give you an idea how your money will be used, THT delivers health promotion campaigns, national services and local services directly to people with or affected by HIV and people at risk from their centres across England and Wales.
