Wimbledon Village Police Tug of War · 19 February 2008

Embrace Child Survivors of Crime (CSoC) is a national children’s charity that focuses it's time on helping children, young people and families recover from the effects of crime. Our specialist services help them recover from their trauma, rebuild their lives and help them on their healing journey.

Story

Another great fun event at the Wimbledon Village Fair, Wimbledon Common, on SATURDAY 21 JUNE 2008 thanks to the crowds, the participants  and our sponsor 'talkbackThames TV' producers of 'THE BILL'!

This year we are collecting for Child Victims of Crime (CVOC) the only national Police children's charity to give support to children whose lives have been shattered by crimes such as violence, abuse and murder in the UK!

Junior Event (11-16 years).  Wimbledon Police Cadets took the winning trophy after battling against Ricard's High School for Girls and the All Stars.

The arrival of TV Star LISA MAXWELL (D.I. Nixon  in 'THE BILL' and a Patrol of CVOC) brightened the day as she signed autographs with each purchase of Bobby Bear (the first toy bear permitted to wear the official Metropolitan Police uniform) - proceeds go to the charity.

Nearby, a veteran Police Dog drew the crowds even more as he demonstrated his skills in catching criminals 'on the run' with a brave police inspector acting as his prey.

Lisa then officially opened the Men's Event in the afternoon  where, several pulls later, the Winners' Cup was evenually relinquished by the Wimbledon Police in a well deserved win by the Wimbledon Common Rangers.

If you live or work locally and would like to enter or form a team in June 2009 please contact:  wimvillagetugowar@btinternet.com or Telephone: 020 8721 2457 for details.
