Story

Hello

Thanks for visiting our page.

Catherine, Lindsey, John and Geir have all been crazy enough to sign up for the Great North Swim in Lake Windemere on the 12th September 2009. The event is a one mile open water swim and over 2000 people have signed up, including Olympic-medal winning swimmers (look out for us keeping up with them!).  We will be braving icy waters, unflattering wetsuits, mysterious slimy things and the monster* that is rumoured to inhabit the lake - surely that's worth sponsoring?

Even better, all the money we raise is going to St Benedict's Hospice in Sunderland (a place we all have links with), who are currently trying to raise £400,000 to extend their 'Hospice at Home' scheme, which  provides choice and a service to patients with cancer and other life-limiting conditions who wish to be cared for or to die in their own homes.  The hospice cared for Lindsey's mum in the final days of her illness and they rely on donations and fundraising for their excellent work.  We would greatly appreciate any sponsorship, no matter how small, to help us to our target of £1000.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us. St Benedict's Hospice, Sunderland gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Many thanks!

Catherine, Lindsey, John and Geir

*sceptics claim the monster is 'only' a giant Pike.  Either way, we don't want to meet it.
