2010 Athens marathon · 31 October 2010

Helambu Project is a UK charity working working to provide educational and recreational activities, practical training and promote health in the Helambu region of Nepal. Our philosophy is not to develop others but develop ourselves as we seek to uphold the local proverb “before self, put others”

Story

I have spent my summer volunteering as an English teacher. The school was located on the footsteps of Nepali Himalayas, at 2000m altitude.

136 students between 6 and 15 years old, were lovely to teach and play with. However, their classrooms are in desperate need for light. Half dark and dimly lit, rooms are a threat to kids' eyesight in the long term

I decided to run the Athens Marathon for them in 4 weeks time. By then, I want to collect 500 pounds to fund roof windows for their classrooms. You can help them too, by spreading the word and donating below. Together, we can make the Nepali Windows 2011 project come true.

Thank you for donating.
