About our charity
:
The Ellen MacArthur Trust
The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness.
Sailing is perfect for these children; it gives them a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Simply the experience of going out on the water for the first time is an adventure. Each child has the challenge of helping sail the yachts throughout the voyage and takes part in all aspects of the trip from sailing the yacht to the washing up!
The children come from all over the country, including Northern Ireland, London, Essex, Sheffield, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Nottingham & Ellen’s birthplace, Derbyshire.

Windsurf Channel Crossing-
Guy Cribb and current world champion Antione Albeau are about to cross the English Channel from Cherbourg to Poole, over 70 miles of rough seas and some of the busiest shipping lanes in the world in the next autumn storm to raise money for the Ellen MacArthur Trust and their French counterpart A Chacun Son Cap.
The Ellen MacArthur Trust aims to support, empower and enliven children suffering from cancer, leukaemia or other serious illnesses by introducing them to the joys of sailing on the sea.
By donating to the Ellen MacArthur Trust through supporting Guy and Antoine to manage to windsurf where no other windsurfers have tried before, you will give confidence and happiness back to children who've been stuck in hospitals for months or years, by enabling them to mix with other children who've recovered or are trying to recover from cancer, and feel the camaraderie and bravery of each other whilst sailing or possibly windsurfing.
Please give something, however small, as a symbol of your support for windsurfing, Antione and Guy's wild attempt of a channel crossing and for the children of the Ellen MacArthur Trust and A Chacun Son Cap.
HUGE thanks.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Ellen MacArthur Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
