UPDATE: I did it!
Despite the chronic lack of wind, the supposedly physical challenge became a mental one instead. But nine hours and 55 minutes later my GPS finally ticked onto 50.00 miles, with the sun begining to set after a very long day.
In 2009 a new charity, Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research (W4CR), begun raising money for a range of Cancer research foundations. The whole UK windsurfing community took to the water during National Windsurfing Week raising thousands of pounds in total.
This year, on 2nd May 2010, the event was repeated. I had planned my own challenge during National Windsurfing Week - to raise £500 for W4CR by completing 500 crossings of a lake in 500 minutes (taking 10 hours, and a total of around 50 miles, or twice across the English Channel!).
Please support my challenge - donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
Thankyou kindly,
David
