Story
Dear Friends,
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As most of you know, in August 2011 out of the blue, my husband Glyn, suffered a massive near fatal stroke. That morning he was put into a coma and underwent emergency brain surgery that night. Thankfully he is an Ox of a man and he managed somehow to pull through and slowly but surely he came back to life!
After 6 long weeks in The Royal Free Intensive Care Unit and high dependency ward he was moved to Northwick Park Regional Rehabilitation Center. This is a specialised unit set up for patients with severe and complex disabilities who need specialist rehabilitation following many types of brain injury. The unit only has 22 beds and mainly caters for young adults which makes it quite unique.
It was here that Glyn spent 4 months and learnt to walk again. It is to the staff and its facilities to which we will be eternally grateful.
My dear friends Lisa, Donna and Amy are joining me in running the St Albans 10k on the 12th of May to raise money for the center. Please sponsor us. Any amount will be gratefully received.
Thank you,
Kate xx
