Story
A head for heights? We did it!
On Sunday 8th June 2008, four intrepid members of the Women Ahead committee zipped their way across the fishing ponds at Forbes of Kingennie to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support Dundee Appeal.
Fiona Morgan, Eleanor Whitby, Gillian Riddoch and Kathleen Brown were lifted in a basket to the top of a 160-foot high crane then attached to the zip wire to wing their way over one of the fishing ponds.
Kathleen commented ‘The zip-line event was an exhilarating way to launch our fund-raising activities for Macmillan Cancer Support, the charity we’ve chosen to support in 2008-09. The views over the Tay Estuary from the top of the crane were spectacular. Some of us had our eyes open to see it!'
Women Ahead's fundraising efforts were boosted by a team from Burns & Harris, co-ordinated by WA member Pauline Morris, and colleagues of Gillian's from the Hilton. Together, through the zipline event, we raised a fantastic total of £2248.65. Many thanks to all.
On-going fundraising
We are continuing with fundraising through raffles and other events.
