In the 30 years since Meningitis Now was founded, we have funded research, provided support & worked to raise the public's awareness of the disease. Our vision is a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Story

On the 11-12th of April, 2009, footballing history will be made in the Bristol Academy Footballathon as we will play football for 36 continuous hours in order to set a new world record.

From 10am on Saturday, April 11th, until 10pm on Sunday, April 12th, we will play constantly in order to break the current record of 33 hours, 36 minutes.

We are only allowed 36 players, so it's going to be a big challenge! That's a full day and a half, with only 7 subs per team. Just going without sleep is going to be tough, never mind playing football! The rules are really strict as it's a world record attempt so you can be assured that we will not be taking it easy...

It's being played for two really good causes and we want to raise a lot of money. Following on from the 12 hour football last year, in memory of Jamie, one of our chosen charities is the Meningitis Trust. Please donate as much as you can afford.
