World Vision UK- 24 Hour Famine · 30 September 2009 ·

World Vision believes change starts with children, and we deliver that by partnering with families and communities so children can thrive, speak up and shape lasting change.

Story

The World Vision Youth Team are taking part in the World Vision 24 Hour Famine 2009 over the weekend of 13 - 15th February. Some of us will be giving up food for the 24 hours and the others will be going without caffiene!!

The 24 Hour Famine has been running for over 20 years and has seen young people in the UK change the lives of millions of children around the world.

By getting sponsored to go without for 24 hours we will make real change in the lives of hundreds of girls in ‘the Pink City’ of Jaipur, India. At the moment they’re looking towards a future of commercial sex work – it’s what’s expected of them.

The risks are massive, but by raising money we can help to:
• offer an alternative
• offer advice
• offer an education
• offer a vision of a different future.

Please help us to raise money and change the future for these girls and women! If you want to take part as well please follow the link below.

Just 60p will provide training to a member of medical staff to undertake HIV testing and support individuals with counselling.
£10 could offer life skills training for twenty 10-18 years offering them the chance of a future outside of commercial sex work.
