Story
This is our first time running in The Great Curry Run; it is in its 3rd year. The distance some people are running or walking is 24km, representing 10m for every service person killed or wounded in action in Afghanistan. Martin and I are running the 10km, 10m for every person seriously wounded and George the short version of 4km (10m for each soldier killed in action)!
We have been allocated the names of 3 soldiers, their stories inspire us to help raise money for their families left behind. Mel is running for Flt Sgt Adrian Davies who was one of 12 RAF personnel killed when their Nimrod MR2 crashed in Afghanistan. He was a devoted father of 4. Martin is running for Sgt Lee Davidson from The Light Dragoons, he was killed after his armoured vehicle hit a roadside bomb, he was a father of 2 and his wife was expecting their third child. George is running in memory of Christopher Davies, only 22. He was shot in an ambush whilst on patrol in Helmand Province. He had always wanted to join the army.
