In July this year a team from West Sussex are tackling Mt Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Classrooms for Kenya! This trip is entirely self-financed so every penny raised from this page is going to the charity so please give generously!
The Charity
Classrooms for Kenya is a charity established and run by myself and other staff and students of The Weald School. Our aim is to raise funds and build new classroom buildings for schools in Kenya that simply cannot afford to construct anything other than temporary mud huts. These mud huts collpase every few years (often when children are in them) and we aim to replace them with permanent brick-built buildings. Over the last three years we've raised in the region of £100,000 and used this money to pay for 16 new classrooms for 6 different primary and secondary schools in the region around Kitale, Kenya. We've also organised and run three different trips for Sixth Form students from our school and these trips have seen around 100 students and staff visit Kenya to assist in the construction of these classooms.
How the money will be used
Our trip to climb Mt Kilimanjaro is entirely self-financed so every penny donated on this page (apart from a very small admin fee) will go towards Classrooms for Kenya! My aim for this climb is to raise £2,000 so please support me! This money will then be sent to Kenya to pay for building materials and wages for local bricklayers to start building the next new classrooms.
